Alternative sites to Ebay

If you have ever used Ebay you are aware of the fees involved to list items as well as a few other fees to use this site.I use to have an Ebay account and have a very good rating as I was a seller and buyer.I was new to Ebay as most are when I first started buying and selling on it and was aware of the fees to use this site. I paid my fees and kept them up to date as I used Ebay. I lost the use of the internet for awhile due to my PC being infected and having to be sent off for repair.I recieved a letter from Ebay one day telling me that my account was being turned in to collection for the sum of $30.00,seller fees? I immediately contacted them and made arrangements to pay off the balance. When I was able to access the internet again I had some items I wanted to list for sale.I was able to log into my account but I had been suspended and was instructed to contact Ebay concerning getting my account back. No dice. Noone ever responded to me and my account was eventually closed.I decided to first open my own store and then start seeking alternatives to Ebay. I have found since several really good sites that allow you to sell and but either for free or with a low investment.I wanted to share a few with others who have either expirenced my situation or who are just looking for alternatives to Ebay.

When using a free online auction always make sure to never deal with anything except a payment option you are comfortable like Paypal. Be wary of buyers who want to pay via check or any other method that you are not comfortable accepting. Always make sure to be detailed if you are a seller as to what you require of a buyer who bids on any of your items. The same goes for if you are a buyer, always make sure you read an items description in detail and do not be afraid to ask questions if something is not clear about a biid you are interested in.

Below you will find a decent amount of free and near free auctions sites. I have learned that the best way to sell is to do it with the basic settings on sites. Many people want their auctions to look nice so they pay for the designs sites offer and allot of the tools. It is fine to want your auction to look great and to dress it up if you want but it will cost you on some free auction sites. I hope this page helps you a little and have fun making some extra cash:)

Ebay is not a place you can trust when operating a business...few month ago I was selling over 100 item per dayand I was able to ship them all out within 24 business hours. One morning I got up and notice I got about 500 and more was still coming in by the minute. I couldnt ship all 500 ontime only about 300, about 150 customer leave negative feedback complaining that they received item late.

My feedback was still at 98% even with the negative...guess what? my account got suspended...

Its better you established your own website and used eBay as a secondary source for customer and marketing.

Swoopo in my expirence is sortive a rip off.

I tried it once and it is great if you have the money to bid.

I started doing searches on Swoopo and a guy claiming to of once been an employee of the site said he was paid to bid against members to keep the auctions going so the site made more money. Not cool.

I like this article. Very informative. Ebay does seem to be a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to buying and selling at an online auction. For bidders, it's sort of lost the "jazz" and for sellers...forget about it, they get racked with fees.

I think as far as internet auctions go in general, penny auctions are a much more fun and exciting way to win an auction as a bidder. It is dynamic and interactive. The key with penny auction sites is to find one with good value. That is, a good bid/price ratio. Sites like swoopo can get quite expensive. Especially because after paying for your bids, you are often times stuck paying a high auction price on top, and this is like a double whammy.

A new site that is geared to this format, called http://www.5050auctions.com has reinvented the market. Everything sells for 50 cents or less!! So if you do win the auction, you don't then have to pay a large premium for the item as well. They are also the only site of their kind that actually gives winners 50% of their bids back. So as a winner, you get a really terrific value. 5050auctions.com also has lots of incentives, and very reasonably priced bidpacks, to where you can lower your bid/price ratio down to 50 cents/bid. So if you use 500 bids to win a big screen television, you end up getting it for a little over $100...Where else can you get that kind of a deal?

I spend some money in swiopo and bidoo and I haven't won anything... my brother played in bidoo and he won a cellphone but in this kind of websites I think the most important is you to remember that they make the money with the bid of the people who doesn't win... and there is only one winner ... i'm not going to spend more money in this kind of auctions at the moment

About the last comment on http://www.bidoo.us i got to say that i prefer the classic auction type and try to find bargains and if the products get expensive... I'll wait till I found another one in my price range... by the way if you are lucky in www.bidoo.us the products are pretty cool but I'm far from being a lucky person...

Before you even venture into this kind of bidding style, be sure you are already well aware how things go for your bids. Remember that the site isn't forcing you to bid. Entertainment shopping with a twist which rely on luck and the way you play your bids.

personally, my favorite is http://www.5050auctions.com. They give you half your bids back on any item you win, which rocks! and their shipping is super fast. and my win ratio is the best over there.

http://yabexe.com is new and looking for members. It is NOT a penny auction site. It has everything feeBay offers. This is a start-up auction site, is encrypted, offers a free store, no insertion fees, and a $10 credit just for trying it. Created by an ex-eBayer who had enough.

This is a really great list. I have heard so many negative things about eBay recently and most seems to be trying to stop people from doing auction selling altogether so this is nice to know that there are options if this is the kind of business you are interested in. Especially for drop shipping stuff. Thank you.
